Ukrainian Retail Has Lost 7 Million Customers Who Now Spend Money Abroad: This Is a Big Challenge — Retail Association of Ukraine

The more people return from abroad to Ukraine this year, the greater the retail turnover in domestic chains will be. Andrii Zhuk, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Retail Association of Ukraine, made this statement during the briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“In 2023, the enterprises that can adapt will have a much better situation — this is the first. The second thing is that it will depend on the situation in Ukraine. Because now 7 million Ukrainians are abroad, they spend money there. This is a very big challenge for retailers. The more time passes, the lower the percent of those who will return. The world is used to refugees fleeing the poor, and Ukrainians have fled the war. The world is very surprised that Ukrainians are well-educated, they have money that they saved, for example, and now people pay this money in other countries. The situation in Ukraine will show how many people can return to Ukraine. The more people will return, the more turnover retailers will have in their chains in Ukraine,” Andrii Zhuk explained.
