There is no enemy amassing aircraft on Ukraine’s borders: with more than 700 aircraft, they use the same 40 airfields as a year ago — Ihnat

At the beginning of the all-out war, Russia amassed more than 700 aircraft for war in Ukraine, maintaining this number despite significant losses of aircraft. Iurii Ihnat, Speaker of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Russia has accumulated aviation equipment at the airfields to use in its aggression against Ukraine. There are about 40 airfields in the occupied territory, including Crimea, Belarus, and Russia. It can be used for different types of aircraft. The number accumulated by enemy at the beginning of the aggression remains the same: it is more than 700 aircraft in total,” Ihnat said.

“Even though we are approaching 300 shot down aircraft and 300 helicopters mark, the enemy can replace the lost aircraft. But the last destroyed one is the newest air equipment that Russia has in service. These are Su-24s, Su-25s, many Su-30s and even Su-35s, and large numbers of K-52 Alligator helicopters. It is impossible to accumulate aviation near the borders since aviation needs airfields. It remains in the same place. The military leadership possesses information about the number of equipment and threats that may arise,” the spokesman added.
