“Ukrainian energy grid is fully under control, there are no threats of major blackouts,” Energy Industry Research Center
Today, the Ukrainian energy system is fully under control, and all power outages have nothing to do with the so-called major blackout. Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“A major blackout, in English-speaking media, is a complete shutdown of the power grid due to the loss of control over it. The system shuts down, and a large number of industrial accidents occur. Our system today is completely controlled, and the outages that occur are by design. This means that there was either a hit on a specific piece of equipment, or we did it (cut power – ed.) in a controlled manner. There’s not just Plan B or C, everything is thought out up to Plan K,” —Oleksandr Kharchenko said.
According to him, these detailed plans helped a lot when certain parts of Ukraine were threatened with power outages for very significant periods. After all, thanks to the schemes developed in advance, the power supply was restored within 7-8 hours.
“Planning takes place constantly, engineers and dispatchers are currently squeezing the maximum out of the system so that it is under as much control as possible and there could be no major blackouts,” — Kharchenko assured.
