Putin does not have any feelings for Odesa, it will not be possible to come to an agreement with him – Ukrainian Institute of the Future

If there is an opportunity and necessity, the Russian authorities will destroy any city. Vadym Denysenko, executive director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, stated this during the presentation of the report “Odesa myth in the russian-Ukrainian war of 2022” at Media Center Ukraine – Odesa .

“Many people said that Odesa will not repeat the fate of Kharkiv, because it is the city of poet Oleksandr Pushkin, and putin loves Odesa. But putin will not spit on any city. Maybe Saint Petersburg or the Crimean bridge mean something to him. If there is a need and an opportunity, he will destroy everything,” Vadym Denysenko said.

The expert added that russian government doesn’t know what war is. Their vision is based on TV representations of it. Unlike Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchev’s or Leonid Brezhnev’s, who went through the Second World War.

“That’s why russian government is trying to reconstruct what they don’t know about. And therefore, the destruction of any number of people and cities will not be a problem for them, if it will give them victory,” the expert noted.

Vadym Denysenko also told us another myth: Odesa people, as businessmen, will be able to negotiate, but the government in Kyiv simply do not understand local needs. “Donetsk have paid for this since 2014. In addition, this confidence in the possibility of an agreement is reminiscent of the recruitment of convicts in the “Wagner” private military company. The Zeks also thought that they were cunning and would be able to deceive everyone. “Everyone knows the fate of these convicts at the “Wagner” PMC,” the expert noted.

Vadym Denysenko also added that putin and the russian army may plan to capture Odesa, but now they do not have such an opportunity.
