“Perpetuating the memory of Oleksandr Matsievskyi in Moldova is a very good initiative” – Member of the Parliament of Moldova Andrian Cheptonar

However, in his opinion, it is impossible to do this in Chisinau now. Andrian Cheptonar, member of parliament of the Commission on National Security, Defense and Public Order of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, said this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

As Andrian Cheptonar noted, this is a very good initiative, and there are many citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are fighting and helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine to fight against russia. “But I think it is impossible to do in Chisinau now. Because Chisinau has a pro-russian mayor who tries to call himself pro-European. But there is no pro-European majority in the municipal council of Chisinau. And it won’t work until the elections that will be held this fall,” – the MP added.

He hopes that such initiatives will come from other cities of Moldova, where there is a pro-European majority in the municipal councils.

According to open data, Oleksandr Matsievskyi, sniper of the 163rd battalion of the 119th independence brigade of the territorial defense of the Chernihiv region, was born on May 10, 1980, in Moldova, and had the citizenship of the country. There he graduated from high school and electrical engineering college. Then his family returned to their hometown – Nizhyn, Ukraine.

On March 11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova condemned the murder of a citizen of Moldova.
