Most of the russian regions will experience problems in June-July 2023 – Ukrainian Institute of the Future

In September 2023, local elections will be held in Russia, so the authorities will try to control possible protests. Vadym Denysenko, executive director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, stated this at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa during the presentation of the report “Odesa myth in the russian-Ukrainian war of 2022”.

“The inflow of foreign currency to the budget of the russian federation will decrease, only for the oil and gas industry, a drop is predicted for a quarter. The budget deficit is growing, which involves the reduction of the national welfare fund and money emission. Also, in a number of regions, a drop in government orders and an increase in partial employment are expected. Therefore, in most regions, problems will be seen in June and July,” Vadym Denysenko said.

But the government in the russian federation is already preparing for the upcoming local elections in 2023 and the presidential elections in 2024. They will try to control possible protests. “This will happen through a controlled fight against corruption, the introduction of soldiers’ mothers to the electoral lists. Also, the authorities will try to lead ecologic movements and also get their leaders into the pre-election lists,” Vadym Denysenko said.

Another method by which russia will try to control protests is to call for unity in a people’s war.

“But the idea of a patriotic’s war against the West, which wants to destroy russia, is slipping. Russians have no respect for their army. If you have already put on a uniform, then you have signed a contract with the Death. Russians do not want to join the army. There are two reasons. The first one is the mess in the army. So when they solve the problem, russians will join the army. The second one is that they are ready to go to the army only when the enemy is standing near their home,” Vadim Denysenko said.
