In 2022, 6 000 residents of Southern Ukraine received referrals to provide assistive rehabilitation equipment

In total, 25 000 referrals were issued for 3 000 people from the Odesa region, as well as 3 000 from the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.Vitaly Koltsov, director of the Odesa regional branch of the Fund for Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities, spoke about this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

“After receiving a full package of documents, our specialists call a person, offer to choose a company, and sign an agreement with the company. After 45 days the company must make a prosthesis. Last year, we provided prostheses to 100% of military personnel and civilians who had the relevant documents in 2022. In total, 25,000 referrals were issued, 3,000 people from the Odesa region and 3,000 from the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions received them (one person can receive several referrals – ed.),” – Vitaly Koltsov added.

He said that now every medical institution has a memo that indicates the documents you need to have to get a high-quality prosthesis while you are already in the hospital.

“This is an application, a passport, a taxpayer registration number, a decision of the military medical commission and an extract from the order of the unit commander. An application for a prosthesis can be submitted through the social protection unit, the center for the provision of administrative services or through the electronic office of a person with a disability,” – the specialist said.

As Nataliya Odariy-Zakharieva, director of the Department of Health Care of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, noted, there is no queue for receiving prosthetics in Odesa Oblast.
