State Migration Service simplifies procedure for issuing, renewing and replacing passports for children — Kateryna Pavlichenko

The State Migration Service has simplified the procedure for issuing, renewing and replacing passports for children, which makes border crossing considerably easier. At the same time, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is responsible for monitoring the legality of such trips.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Every child has the opportunity to cross the state border in both directions on the basis of a Ukrainian citizen’s passport for travel abroad, the validity of which has been extended, as well as on the basis of a passport for travel abroad of their parents or legal guardians, which includes information about this child,” — she said.

Kateryna Pavlichenko noted another innovation that is currently available for the public — the opportunity for parents or legal guardians of a child to create and use an e-passport for travel abroad for a child under 14 years of age.

At the same time, the State Border Guard Service monitors the legality of border crossing by children. Since the beginning of the war, border guards have refused to let 135 children, citizens of Ukraine cross the border. Reasons for refusals included lack of parental authority, invalid documents, missing documents.
