State Emergency Service employees save over 1,500 hectares of grain crops from fires caused by shelling

During the fire danger period, 280 fires covering an area of ​​more than 5,000 hectares were eliminated in Ukraine. Employees of the State Emergency Service saved over 1,500 hectares of grain crops.

Anatolii Shkarbuta, Deputy Head of the Prevention Unit of the Fire Safety Office of the Emergencies Prevention Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine spoke about it at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The largest number of fires occurred in Donetsk region with 101 incidents, Mykolaiv region with 33 fires, as well as in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions,” — he said.

Since the beginning of de-occupation, explosive disposal units of the State Emergency Service demined more than 50,000 hectares. The largest operations were carried out in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.

“We recommend that farmers check if the fields have been demined before harvesting. This can be done by sending an application via the chatbot of the State Emergency Service, by filling out the appropriate form at the State Emergency Service office or by calling 101,” — the representative of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine emphasized.

Anatolii Shkarbuta called on agricultural producers to observe the necessary fire safety rules during harvest. Specifically, the ones stating that before the start of the harvest, wheat fields in places adjacent to forests, steppes, highways and railways must be mowed and fenced with a protective strip at least 4 m wide.
