russians fail to gain the support of the occupied part of the Kherson region population, so they exert pressure, terrorize and forcibly deport – Oblast Council

Due to the lack of support, the occupants put the residents of the left–bank part of the Kherson region under pressure. Yurii Sobolevskyi, First Deputy Head of Kherson Oblast Council, made this statement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The pressure on our people is just insane. It’s omnipresent. Parents are being pressured to send their children to russian schools, and they are threatened with deprivation of parental rights. Entrepreneurs are under enormous pressure towards abanding the hryvnia out of use. The national currency has been officially banned since the beginning of the year. Those living close to the Dnipro river are under a lot of pressure to evacuate. Since they are using this territory as a place of deployment for their units and to carry out shelling of our territory in particular, occupants intend to make a dead zone there. They are well aware of a large percentage of our people there who help the AFU. The situation currently unfolding there is quite dire for our people there now,” Sobolevskyi said.

The First Deputy Head of Kherson Oblast Council added that the occupants also put pressure on Ukrainians to leave the left–bank part of the Kherson Region for permanent residence in russia.

“They have already realized that they cannot receive support from this population, no matter what they do. The failed attempts to bribe these people, the constant pressure, terror proved unsuccessful. Therefore, it was decided to pursue deportation as the right thing to do, taking the population out of the country and distributing it all over the russian federation to assimilate people there. We are constantly witnessing this,” Sobolevsky noted.
