russia uses occupied Crimea as platform to conduct information warfare and destabilize Black Sea region

Olha Skrypnyk, Head of the Board of the Crimean Human Rights Group, made this statement during the Black Sea Security Conference.

“The russian aggression started in occupied Crimea and it spread from the peninsula. The Kremlin continues using the territory of occupied Crimea as a platform for information warfare, which, unlike the direct aggression against Ukraine, is dangerous for the entire Black Sea region,” she said.

According to the expert, in addition to constant attempts to legitimize its annexation of Crimea, russia also commits international crimes in the peninsula, such as arrests of Crimean Tatars, and, it is to Crimea that Ukrainian children kidnapped in mainland Ukraine are taken.

Olha Skrypnyk pointed out that the issue of Crimea cannot wait, it must be resolved today.

“We, international colleagues and partners, must consider all these threat factors that russia has created in occupied Crimea. We must prevent the Kremlin from using the Crimea issue to break the system of international security and the Black Sea region security specifically,” she noted.
