President wants to give a signal that there will be a post-war, economic recovery of Crimea, and it will become our ‘Silicon Valley’ – Emine Dzhaparova

The Pre-Day of the Third Summit of the Crimea Platform started in Kyiv. During the opening of the event, Emine Dzhaparova, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, pointed out the importance of consolidation around the Crimea issue.

“Why are we here today, why will the Crimea Platform be convened tomorrow, why is the state of Ukraine initiating many different events, projects, initiatives, resolutions? This is so that all of us can have the opportunity to be at home, in the Motherland, in Crimea, in our native home. When the flag of Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar people will fly there, in Crimea,” she noted.

At the same time, Emine Dzhaparova said that tomorrow’s Third Summit of the International Crimea Platforms will have two additional signals that Ukraine wants to send to its partners. In particular, the fact that there can be no using Crimea as a bargaining chip and that Ukraine itself will decide how to de-occupy it.

“Tomorrow’s summit, unlike the previous two, where we set ourselves the task of reinforcing the  territorial integrity and consolidating the maximum number of our partners around it, will have two additional signals that Ukraine wants to broadcast to our partners – that there cannot be no using Crimea as a bargaining chip, as Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine, and the second one is that Ukraine itself will decide on the path of de-occupation of the peninsula,” she explained.

In addition, Emine Dzhaparova said that the Third Summit of the International Crimea Platform, for the first time in its history, will feature an internal political track.

“The President of Ukraine decided to dedicate the second and third panels to the future of Crimea. He really wants to send a signal that there will be post-war reconstruction of Crimea, that there will be economic reconstruction of Crimea, that we will make Crimea our ‘Silicon Valley.’ And colleagues from various ministries will discuss it, because they have worked on relevant strategies,” she added.

Emine Dzhaparova reminded that the first Summit gathered 47 states, the second Summit brought together 59 states. And today four more participating countries have been added.

“The task today is to at least keep those partners who have been consolidated around (our cause – Ed.), and the ultimate task is to increase their numbers. We already have four new participants today,” she added.

In addition, Emine Dzhaparova expressed hope that the Summit will become another proof that partners accept Ukraine’s proactive diplomacy.
