Of four checkpoints with Poland, only the smallest one is unblocked – Vice President of the Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine
While efforts are underway to unblock all checkpoints with Poland, only one of the four is currently operational – “Shehyni-Medyka.” According to yesterday’s reports, about 550-600 cars were waiting in line to pass through the “Shehyni-Medyka” checkpoint with about 1,000 cars queued up at all other checkpoints.
Volodymyr Balin, Vice President of the Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“As of today, of the four checkpoints with Poland, only the smallest Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint is unblocked. This one is the smallest, because it allows 250 cars per day in each direction, totaling only 500 cars per day. Next, “Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne” permits 300 cars per day, where vehicles carrying export goods can move more or less freely, and those carrying import goods are almost blocked. “Krakovets-Korczowa” has a capacity of 500 cars per day, but their movement is limited, although cars carrying export goods, once again, can pass. But the largest crossing point “Yahodyn-Dorohusk” with the capacity of 600, and before the protests we had had an agreement of 680 cars per day in each direction, unfortunately, is now almost completely blocked and there is not movement at all despite introducing a separate queue for empty cars, as requested by the Polish protesters,” said Volodymyr Balin.
