Most parishes of moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine do not commemorate patriarch kirill of moscow’s name during services, demand to severe ties, and condemn the russian world

Many priests of the moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine condemn Russian aggression and patriarch kirill. Heorhii Kovalenko, Priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Rector at the Open Orthodox University of Saint Sophia the Wisdom, made this statement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The 400 clergymen of the Ukrainian entity of the Patriarchate of moscow backed the Appeal to the Eastern patriarchs, to the Ecumenical and other ancient patriarchs demanding to condemn the Russian world as heresy and to try the Moscow patriarch for his support of the war. Similarly, there are persistent statements by the clergy. We do know that the vast majority of parishes of the moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine do not commemorate the moscow Patriarch during liturgical services. In fact they call for their bishops to cut ties with moscow and officially condemn the moscow Patriarch. The leaders of the moscow Patriarchate do not do this. Still, at the level of the clergy, such statements, condemnations of the war, and the participation of the Moscow Patriarchate in it are heard constantly in Russia. We see this and welcome it,” the priest said.
