In Kharkiv oblast human rights defenders from the West Support agency discovered more than 1,850 war crimes and human rights violations

Most of these crimes were committed by russian army and military people without identification who spoke russian. Mykyta Kozyrenko, the head of the Ukrainian representative office of the international human rights agency West Support, told about this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine-Odesa.

“In Kharkiv oblast, we discovered a lot of villages where war crimes were committed. In total, more than 1,850 facts of war crimes, norms of the Geneva Convention and human rights. We discovered at least four places where civilians and soldiers were tortured,” the specialist said.

As Mykyta Kozyrenko added, then all the collected evidence is transferred to the Kyiv office of the agency, processed, and later transferred to the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine to the war crimes department and to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

As the expert noted, the criminals will then face a military tribunal. “There are many violations of humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention,” Kozyrenko added.
