Forty-one Rescue Workers Killed as a Result of Fighting
Viktor Vitovetsky, Director of the Civil Protection Organization Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), stated this at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“russia’s all-out invasion killed 41 rescue workers and injured 134 more; 6 rescue workers are held captive. Also, 1,500 items of SES equipment and 50 SES buildings were destroyed, and 190 more buildings were damaged,” he said.
Despite this, the SES pyrotechnicians keep demining the territory and eliminating the consequences of shelling. Over the last day alone, they defused 626 items of ordnance and inspected 60 hectares.
“Since the war had started, the SES specialists neutralized over 160,000 explosive objects and ammunition, including 2,000 air bombs. We inspected and cleared over 4,000 hectares of the territory; however, more than 220,000 square kilometers still remain contaminated and potentially hazardous,” Viktor Vitovetsky explained.
