Fighting rabies: Ukraine boosts rabies defense with over 50,000 vaccine doses

Deputy Health Minister and Chief State Sanitary Doctor, Ihor Kuzin, revealed this during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“We currently have over 50,000 doses of the vaccine available in our nation to offer anti-rabies aid. This supply has been graciously donated by our international partners as humanitarian assistance.

It’s ample to administer a sufficient number of anti-rabies treatments, and distribution to all centers has already been completed,” he remarked.

Additionally, it is anticipated that further vaccine purchases will be made by the state enterprise Medical Procurement of Ukraine in the upcoming month. Consequently, the existing stockpile of anti-rabies vaccines is projected to suffice until April of the following year.

“As of now, we’ve received 50,000 doses, generously provided as humanitarian aid by our partners at the World Health Organization. In the upcoming month, we anticipate further purchases through the state enterprise Medical Procurement of Ukraine. This allocation is projected to sustain us until April 2025, with a contingency reserve in place.
