Enemy have deployed swarm of 20-30 UAVs daily to attack Ukraine during winter – Yurii Ihnat

During the winter season, the adversary escalated its drone attacks, launching 20-30 enemy UAVs nearly every day to target Ukraine.

That’s according to Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, speaking at a briefing hosted by the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“The enemy relies heavily on drones due to their abundance compared to missiles. They deploy a significant number of 20-30 drone launches almost daily, with a staggering 90 recorded on New Year’s Eve, marking a peak,” Ihnat disclosed.

He underscored the enemy’s efforts to increase UAV production within its territory, a trend previously highlighted by the Air Force during the winter months. “Drones offer a cost-effective, rapidly deployable, long-range, and precision weaponry option, albeit with smaller payloads compared to missiles. They pose a threat across Ukraine, targeting various critical assets,” Ihnat elaborated, suggesting a potential increase in drone deployment from Russia in the future.

Additionally, Ihnat cautioned about the potential proliferation not only of Shahed drones but also of Lancet drones and the assembly of thousands of FPV drones by Russian forces.

In response to this evolving threat landscape, Ihnat stressed the need to bolster electronic warfare capabilities and destructive measures, particularly through mobile fire groups capable of effectively countering diverse UAV threats.
