Czechia takes in about half a million Ukrainians since russia’s full-scale invasion — Ukrainian Chargé d’affaires in Czech Republic

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Czech Republic has issued more than 485,000 residence permits for temporarily displaced persons from Ukraine.

Vitalii Usatyi, Chargé d’affaires at the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

He noted that the law adopted in March 2022 created legal grounds for the Ukrainian IDPs to stay on the territory of the Czech Republic.

In particular, the framework of this law includes a provision, which actually is implemented in reality. It refers to the possibility of receiving financial assistance worth 5,000 crowns per month, which is about USD 200. This law also allows for free medical insurance to the citizens with the appropriate status, who are staying in the country. Social housing and employment assistance may also be provided accordingly.
