Czechia has been showing consistent support for Ukraine since first days of war — Ukrainian Chargé d’affaires in Czech Republic
The Czech Republic consistently demonstrates support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The support is provided both at the bilateral level and at international organizations, such as the EU, the UN, NATO, the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
Vitalii Usatyi, Chargé d’affaires at the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
In particular, he noted that the Czech Republic has joined all sanctions packages against russia, and it consistently acts as a co-author of UN General Assembly resolutions.
“The government of the Czech Republic decided to close the airspace for russian planes, recalled its ambassadors from russia and Belarus, and also closed the consulates in Karlovy Vary and Brno as well as suspended the work of the Czech consulates in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg,” — Vitalii Usatyi added.
In addition, he noted that Czechia has suspended visas, long-term and permanent residence permits for citizens of the russian federation and the republic of Belarus, and has also begun large-scale inspections of economic ties of business entities.
Vitalii Usatyi also commented on the Czech Republic’s position on participation of russian and Belarusian athletes in the Olympic Games
“Also, the Czech Republic at the level of the President, Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, opposes the International Olympic Committee’s proposal to allow russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in Paris (Olympic Games) in 2024 under a neutral flag,” — he noted.
In addition, according to Vitalii Usatyi, “the Czech Republic has demonstrated extremely strong and consistent support for the creation of a special tribunal that will allow bringing russian war criminals to justice.”
