About 30,000 law enforcement officers to maintain law and order in Ukraine during New Year holidays – National Police

The National Police as a whole are ready to maintain public order and security during the New Year holidays.

Maksym Akhramieiev, Head of the Department of Preventive Actions of the National Police of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“About 20,000 police officers, and a total of about 30,000 law enforcement personnel, including National Guardsmen, military law enforcement service, public formations and volunteers, will provide security throughout the country,” he explained.

In addition, Maksym Akhramieiev noted, there will also be increased police presence on highways cautioning drivers to avoid operating their vehicles under the influence.

“There will also be increased police presence on the highways of our country. We understand that the majority of citizens will be traveling from the cities to visit their relatives, parents or just celebrate these holidays outside urban areas. Therefore, we are also to deploy a certain number of crews to ensure road safety and provide assistance to citizens. Therefore, dear drivers, you should refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication. This is a punishable offense. And also remember that you are a road traffic participant, and you also have a responsibility to other participants,” he emphasized.

In addition, Maksym Akhramieiev added that additional investigative and operational teams, bomb squad teams and reserves of special police forces will be on standby to respond promptly in case of emergencies.
