A Muslim from Russia supporting and participating in the killing of Ukrainians calls into question his identity as a genuine Muslim — Sheikh Murat Suleymanov
Those Russian occupiers invading the neighboring country and killing its citizens, according to the Quran, commit a great sin. Sheikh Murat Suleymanov, Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine UMMA, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“The Quran is the holy book of Muslims. It is the only one. There is no such thing as a separate book for Muslims in Ukraine or a separate book for Russians. It is enough to open the book. It clearly describes their actions as commuting a great sin. When I talked to a wise person, I started to justify them as their minds were steeped in propaganda for 20-30 years, so Muslims think that we have it bad, and they [Russians] are liberating us. He answered very wisely: “Okay, even if it’s 100 years of propaganda. But they have the Quran. It was sent down more than 1400 years ago. It says: ‘Do not kill a person. Do not participate with people who commit tyranny.” And now they have come to their neighbors; they are killing people. It is questionable for those considering themselves a Muslim in Russia supporting this and participating in it, to consider themselves Muslim,” the Mufti said.
