90% of Ukrainians blame the leadership of the russian federation for war crimes, 80% — charge a crime upon soldiers, and 40% hold responsible russian citizens — Ukrainian Legal Advisory Group
Ukrainians need a new justice mechanism for war crimes. Nadia Volkova, Director of Ukrainian Legal Advisory Group, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We conducted a national survey, the results came out at the end of December, and we have recently made them public. Our organization made it in partnership with the Sociological group “Rating” and the Ukraine 5AM Coalition. We found out that 96% of victims do not apply to law enforcement agencies. The people we interviewed consider the perpetrators of the crimes to be 90% russian leadership, 80% russian soldiers, and about 40% citizens of the russian federation itself. Those people waiting for justice, are waiting for an effective one, for results. What existing mechanisms propose and are, have a number of shortcomings that cannot quite meet this demand. Therefore, there is a need to seek new mechanisms and their effective use, along with strengthening the existing mechanisms,” the expert noted.
