In particular, during the discussion on the implementation of the updated National Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security by the security and defense institutions, Iryna Zalialova pointed out that the National Police actively supports the implementation of this plan.

“If we talk about the National Police of Ukraine, then the National Police of Ukraine has the Human Rights Department, in which the Department for Monitoring Issues of Gender Equality and Coordinating the Fight against Domestic Violence has been created. We are the main implementers, we support all government initiatives, we are also co-implementers of the National Plan under Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. We also took an active part in updating this plan. We have our own internal departmental order with tasks, measures, strategic and operational goals,” she noted.

She noted that the National Plan includes over 70 measures that concern the National Police, where the agency is a direct co-implementer.

“Of course, we cannot stand aside, we are actively involved. As we develop institutional capacity within the agency, we also work with people. After all, we are talking about both domestic violence and gender-based violence, where the police play the most important role. Especially today, during the full-scale invasion.”
