125,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for 5-11 year-olds already delivered to Ukraine, it contains less mRNA than ‘adult’ version — Health Ministry
Vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 has started in Ukraine. Ihor Kuzin, Chief State Sanitary Doctor, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“Vaccination of children aged 5-11 is starting and a lot of regions have already deployed the infrastructure. We have been waiting quite a long time for the delivery of the vaccine, because a specially developed vaccine is used for children. It contains a smaller amount of mRNA. In an adult dose, it is 30 μg, for children it is 10 μg. This vaccine was supplied as humanitarian aid, only 125,000 doses of such vaccine. First of all, we encouraged and urged to vaccinate those children who have serious concomitant non-infectious diseases, such as oncological diseases, respiratory diseases or other serious conditions. Now the special formula of children’s Pfizer is available at the regional level, doctors have appropriate instructions. During the appointment, you need to ask specifically for Pfizer for children,” — Kuzin recommended.
