ZNPP equipment degrades, occupants are unable to operate it effectively – Oleksandr Kharchenko
As the situation at ZNPP is deteriorating, the degradation of systems is a certainty, this leads to the implications of restoration will be difficult and time-consuming.
Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center, made this statement, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“The situation there is steadily deteriorating, and the further, the worse. There were blackouts in recent days, but Ukrenergo promptly restored power to Zaporizhia NPP. But the plant’s equipment is degrading, the occupiers are unable to operate it effectively, and it’s only getting worse,” he said.
According to the expert, since the occupied ZNPP is gradually degrading, there may be more problems with restoring and bringing it into working condition in the future.
“It will deteriorate for a long time as the thence systems are quite strong, but rebuilding it to the operative condition will be very difficult and long-term,” explained Kharchenko.
