Working with people in the field of cultural heritage is a direct fundamental component of cultural heritage protection in general — Kateryna Chuieva

Kateryna Chuieva, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform, emphasized the outflow of specialists abroad as the significant risks in the field of cultural heritage, whose long-term consequences will also result after the war. 

“Today, we hope that most of the specialists in our field, those who left, will return. But we cannot predict a hundred percent chance and be sure of it,” she said.

Kateryna Chuieva noted that “when people in cities like Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson are not sure that they will be able to get back to more or less normal life and work in the near future, it is to be a huge challenge for the entire state system.” 

“We have huge problems paying salaries in the regions. We will work with the messages we receive and communicate with ministries, for instance. Because having no people, we cannot save anything.”
