Verkhovna Rada preparing to strengthen social protection of military personnel – Fedir Venislavskyi

As a part of its work on legislative changes, the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence developed two comprehensive draft laws, one of which concerns social protection of military personnel and police officers. On Monday, the draft law was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Particularly, this document deals with the improvement of issues related to vacations for military personnel, as well as issues related to the social protection of military personnel and their families.

Fedir Venislavskyi, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Representative of the President of Ukraine to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

In addition to a number of important issues, the document will also regulate the calculation of pensions for the military personnel.

“In particular, the draft law suggests that for those performing their official duties under the martial law regime one day is counted as two, or, accordingly, one month is counted as two. If a soldier takes a direct part in the protection of the territorial integrity and state sovereignty, but does not participate in hostilities, then this is a month for three, if a soldier participates directly, then this is one month for four. And being in captivity – if a person gets captured without consent – makes one month equal to five months of military service,” noted Fedir Venislavskyi.
