Ukrzaliznytsia in negotiations with Korea on upgrading Intercity trains
The negotiations on upgrading Intercity trains are underway, in particular with Korea, but offers from the Japanese side are also being considered.
Oleksandra Vasylenko, Director of International Offices at PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, made about this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“We are considering upgrading the Intercity train fleet. And here we are very actively talking, of course, with representatives of Korea, since we already have certain models, and we received a rather attractive offer. But, again, I emphasize, this is a matter of the negotiation process and maximum transparency and viability of these proposals. Therefore, I cannot say that it will be only Korea,” she explained.
Oleksandra Vasylenko also noted that offers from the Japanese side, which, according to her, involve serious high-speed train technology, are also being considered.
In addition, she pointed out the cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises in the field of both commercial rolling stock, railcars, open wagons, hopper cars for grain, and passenger rolling stock.
“Wherever possible, in every potential contract for the supply of this or that equipment and products, the issue of localization is always brought up, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine. Where possible, we try to do it,” she added.
