Ukrzaliznytsia agrees to supply locomotives from the Czech Republic, the United States, and France

Today, Ukraine has an urgent need for electric locomotives, as the current rolling stock is outdated. The negotiations are already underway, and options for cooperation are being considered, in particular with the Czech Republic, the United States, and France, to resolve this issue.

It was emphasized by Oleksandra Vasylenko, Director of International Offices at PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Today, we are considering the supply of locomotives and cooperation with the following countries: the Czech Republic, the United States, and the Republic of France. These proposals are currently on the table and under active consideration. Of course, the Ukrainian Railways board makes decisions altogether with the relevant ministry, which is very important,” she said.

She noted that in the context of increased demand for rail transport, it is necessary to ensure the fastest possible maneuverability of locomotives.

“We are considering various options for this purpose. It’s mainly a matter of credit financing. That is why it is very important to get competitive prices. It’s a key factor that holds up the process,” she added.
