Ukroboronprom does its best to speed up demining efforts — Spokeswoman of the enterprise

“As of today, according to the estimates of the State Emergency Service, more than a third of the territory of Ukraine is potentially dangerous for our farmers to conduct agricultural activities, as well as for the life of the civilian population in general. This suggests that we will need over a year, if not a dozen, to make this area safe. Ukroboronprom is speeding up (the solution to — Ed.) this issue as much as possible,” — Nataliya Sad, Spokeswoman of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, said at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“We have already announced and shown one of the devices for disposing of explosive objects. The so-called ‘pencil,’ which, by the means of exothermic mixture, simply burns out the shell of the projectile, and thus neutralizes the explosive filling, or, for example, an anti-personnel mine. And this is only one of many developments of the enterprise,” — she said.

Nataliya Sad also said that the second stage of the humanitarian demining project recently took place and a specific plan to considerably speed up demining of the territory was developed as a part of it.
“It mostly deals with making such equipment unmanned. This will save the life of the bomb technician and speed up the demining process. Therefore, we focus on the unmanned equipment, which will allow probing the soil from above, finding explosive objects and disarming them.”
