“Ukrainian farmers will finish harvesting faster than last year and expect to collect 70 million tons of products”
In the east and south of Ukraine, farmers are already finishing this year’s harvest, but there are delays in the west of the country due to weather conditions. Farmers are also expecting the harvest of sunflower, because almost no winter crops have been sown this season. Dmytro Solomchuk, MP and a member of Verkhovna Rada’s Agrarian and Land Policy Committee made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Approximately, 16-18 million tons of products have already been milled in Ukraine. This is about 16-17 percent of the total harvest that farmers plan to harvest.”
The most difficult areas to harvest are in the de-occupied territories. These are Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy and Mykolaiv regions. Farmers go to the fields every day, some in bulletproof vests and helmets, some attach sheets of metal to the bottom of heavy machinery to ensure their own safety and continue harvesting Ukrainian bread, Dmytro Solomchuk, MP and a member of Verkhovna Rada’s Agrarian and Land Policy Committee said at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
