Ukraine’s allies need to understand how to use the latest technologies to fight the Russian fleet – retired British Air Marshal
Despite the fact that the world believes that the main elements of war are air power and ground forces, we cannot exclude the new nature of warfare – asymmetric warfare. When, for example, a fleet can be successfully attacked from the air.
This was stated during the Second Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimea Platform by Edward Stringer, retired Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Senior Fellow at Policy Exchange, former Director General of the Defence Academy of the Joint Strategic Command.
“Our task is to understand how we can successfully attack the Russian fleet with the available forces and means, especially in Crimea. If we clearly think through how the latest technological solutions can be used in the Black Sea region to successfully fight the Russian fleet, then this is what we need to do,” said Edward Stringer.
He added that the situation at sea has changed a lot, and countries are no longer building large-tonnage vessels to have a powerful fleet. The fleet is now based on technology.
