Ukraine needs Patriot PAC-3 and SAMP-T systems to shoot down Kh-22 missiles, one of which hit Dnipro residential building — Ihnat

In order to shoot down high-speed Kh-22 missiles, which the enemy uses as ballistic missiles, Ukraine needs modern Western anti-missile systems. Yurii Ihnat, Spokesperson of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Unfortunately, they have these missiles. As for the means that can shoot them down, these are modern Western systems capable of shooting down ballistic targets. The rocket is fast, it flies in the upper layers of the atmosphere, with an approximate speed of up to 4,000 km per hour. Before zeroing in on the target, it drops down sharply. In fact, it can be used in this way, like a ballistic missile. We need the following systems, which, I hope, will be provided to us by our Western partners as soon as possible: this is Patriot PAC-3, and there are also reports that SAMP-T systems will be transferred to Ukraine in the future. Italy and France have them in service. In this way, we will be able to strengthen ourselves. They are unlikely to be enough to cover a large area of the country to protect all cities and critical infrastructure. Let’s hope that there will be more deliveries,” — Ihnat said.
