Ukraine may increase electricity exports to 700 megawatts by October — Energoatom

Petro Kotin, Acting President of Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Company made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“In order to ensure the export of electricity, we have to solve three issues — political, economic and technical. The technical issue is that we are limited by the power lines that connect us to Europe. We are connected to the European energy system. And the total capacity of these lines is about 700 megawatts. This will be the limit on export. So far, we have an agreement on 200 megawatts, but we are also working to export 700 megawatts by October,” — he said.

Petro Kotin noted that Energoatom is also working on putting additional lines into operation. This is the line between Khmelnytskyi and Rzeszow, which has the capacity of around 1,000 megawatts.
