Two civilians, one of them a teenager, were blown up by unknown explosive devices during the past week
On December 18, Yevhen Vasylenko, the spokesman of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, spoke about the operational situation that developed in the Kharkiv region during the past week, from December 11 to 17.
During this period, the rescuers of the Kharkiv garrison made 117 trips under the “Alarm” signal, four of which were related to enemy shelling. Another 38 times, employees of the State Emergency Service went to road accidents to help people. 24 times assistance was provided to drivers caught in drifts, snowdrifts, or stuck on slippery road sections.
Over the past week, the State Emergency Service sappers have neutralized and eliminated more than 430 explosive objects.
32 squads of State Emergency Service employees and 68 units of equipment of the joint detachment of the SESU continued to inspect and demine the de-occupied and affected by the full-scale russian invasion territories of the Kharkiv region. Since the beginning of hostilities in Kharkiv Oblast in February of last year, they surveyed more than four thousand hectares of territories, of which 135 hectares — with the help of mechanized demining machines; about three thousand kilometers of power lines, more than four thousand households, more than 86 thousand ammunition, and other dangerous objects were discovered and neutralized.
According to Yevhen Vasylenko, two civilians, one of them a teenager, were blown up by unknown explosive devices during the past week. On December 15, a 15-year-old boy, walking in the forest, found an explosive device, which detonated in his hands, in the village of Donetske, Izyum district. The child received explosive injuries on both hands.
During the past week, rescuers went out six times to put out fires that broke out in private houses and households due to violations of fire safety measures. One person became a victim of the fire. His body was found inside a burning elevator. The cause of the fire is being established.
From December 11 to 17, employees of the Kharkiv Garrison went out four times to eliminate fires and destruction caused by enemy shelling. As a result of the terrorist actions of the occupiers, a 73-year-old resident of Kupyansk died.
