“There are over 1,300 schools in the temporarily occupied territories, all of these children will have the opportunity to study online,” Serhii Babak

There are about 1,300 schools with students and children in the temporarily occupied territories.

Serhii Babak, Chair of Verkhovna Rada’s Education, Science, and Innovations Committee made this statement at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Teachers who will try to start teaching according to russia’s curricula, are considered to be accomplices of collaborators and fall within the scope of the Criminal Code, according to our legislation. This does not apply to children. Parents are scared and can send their children to school under duress. All schools located on the temporarily occupied territories will work online,” — he said

Serhii Babak added that a large number of teachers secretly continue to teach Ukrainian children.

As for children who are currently abroad, online education is provided for them as well.

“We stay in touch with such children. The administration of the school where this child previously studied works with them. I thank our partner countries for allowing our students to integrate into their education system. Yes, in some countries there is a requirement for schoolchildren to go to local schools, but at the same time, there is no ban on studying online,” — the MP explained.

Currently, work is underway to create a big online school for all students who need to study remotely: “Such a school will unite both temporarily displaced children and those who are abroad or simply cannot attend their school for various reasons.”
