There are 2453 shelters in Odesa region

923 of them are specialized protective structures, and 602 are radiation shelters. Serhii Gotko, director of the regional department for civil protection, said this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

“Since the full-scale aggression, the region has been carrying out large-scale work to provide shelters. And now, thanks to basements, dual-purpose buildings, such as parking lots, there are 2453 shelters in the region. There are some that are still undergoing repairs, but the lion’s share of shelters are working,” – the official said.

Serhii Maslyanko, head of the department for organization of civil protection measures of the main department of the state emergency service in Odesa region, added that out of this number of shelters, 1993 are the simplest shelters.

“Every quarter we inspect the protective structures. The main problems are the unsatisfactory technical condition of load-bearing structures, lack of ventilation, and no alternative exit. The goal is to provide 100% of people with shelters. And in the near future, information about all working structures will be available in the Diia mobile application,” – the official added.
