On May 5, the Media Center Ukraine will host a Panel discussion: “China. Europe. Ukraine. What to expect from Trump’s next 100 days?”

Participants:

At the beginning of the full-scale war, members of the Kyiv Municipal Cruising Yacht Club made trench candles and wove camouflage nets. Later, together with warfighters, they designed special medical stretchers using sailcloth as a material, which is durable, waterproof and resistant to friction. The stretchers are now manufactured on a regular basis: they are lightweight and compact.  

Many club members joined this initiative. Sailcloth is provided by sailors from yacht clubs all over Ukraine. Sailors from Poland and Slovenia have also sent their sails for the production of stretchers.

By prior arrangement, journalists can speak with club members and cover their work in Kyiv.

After the beginning of the full-scale war, Viktoriia lost her job and turned to working with clay. The young woman created numerous pieces, including tableware. Her work caught the attention of a company that was looking for a craftswoman to make platters. The key feature of these plates is their pins, which help to secure food so that it can be cut with just one hand.

Viktoriia studied the necessary information, consulted with an occupational therapist, and created her first inclusive plate. Today, she donates her creations to restaurants, hospitals, and veterans who have lost an arm in combat. She doesn’t charge the military for her work – instead, her social media followers cover the cost.

On May 8-9, 2025, the 17th annual Kyiv Security Forum, organized by Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation, will be held under the title “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”. The media partner of the event is the Media Center Ukraine.

Participants will include:

High-ranking representatives of governments, ministries of defense and general staffs of partner states, the international intelligence community, as well as prominent global figures, Ukrainian and foreign politicians, parliamentarians, diplomats, public intellectuals, security and foreign policy experts, and civil activists.

Key Forum topics:

– How to stop the russian aggressor?

– How to achieve a just peace for Ukraine and the world?

– How to prevent a third world war?

Registration is mandatory to attend the event and will remain open until 2:00 PM on May 7. Accreditation confirmations will be sent to the email address provided during registration. Only accredited media representatives with confirmed registration will be granted access to the Forum.

For reference: This year, the 17th annual Kyiv Security Forum is timed to coincide with two symbolic dates – the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II and the 40th anniversary of Europe Day as an official holiday of the European Union.

On May 1, the Media Center Ukraine will hold a briefing “How the State Emergency Service of Ukraine is demining Ukraine: equipment, personnel, innovations, and global aid”.

Participants:

– Serhii Reva, Head of the Department for Organizational Work on Humanitarian Demining at the Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

– Progress and scope of demining operations: What has been accomplished by SES explosive ordnance disposal teams? 

– Which countries supply the most equipment and machinery for explosive ordnance clearance, and how does this support enhance the operational capacity of the SES?

– What is the current status of water bodies affected by unexploded ordnance? 

– Does the SES have a sufficient number of pyrotechnic specialists, and what are the current staffing levels? 

– What new technologies and methods are being employed in SES demining efforts?

The Kiev Municipal Cruising Yacht Club is implementing a rehabilitation initiative for military personnel and veterans – a free sailing course combining theoretical and practical training.

Recently, the first practical session of the sailing course took place. The participants prepared their training boat, refreshed their theoretical knowledge and the terminology they learned during the last two months. The next day, they set sail for their first wind-powered voyage.

Journalists are welcome to cover the next practical session in Kyiv upon prior arrangement.

On April 30, the Media Center Ukraine will host a briefing titled “Expo 2025: How Ukraine Speaks to the World in the Language of Sustainability and Innovation.”

Participants:

– Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

– Expo 2025: Why does Ukraine’s participation matter on the global stage?

– The concept behind Ukraine’s pavilion: a value store and immersive experience;

– Looking ahead: Ukraine’s National Day at Expo and future plans. 

For reference: From April 13 to October 13, 2025, Ukraine will participate in World Expo 2025, hosted in Osaka, Japan. This prestigious global event will feature over 160 participating countries and is expected to attract 28 million visitors. The theme for this year is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”

Ukraine’s pavilion, titled “Not For Sale,” is designed to resemble a store where nothing is for purchase. Instead of products, it features 18 symbolic objects, each representing a core human value such as freedom, dignity, and sustainability. Every object has a barcode that visitors can scan using special store scanners inside the pavilion. Instead of a price tag, the screen will display video stories from Ukraine that metaphorically reveal the cost the country pays for the right to education, freedom of choice, access to healthcare, and other fundamental rights.

On April 30, Kyiv will host the presentation of Map, a new book by Andriy Zelinskyy, military chaplain of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Guests are invited to:

– Meet the author;

– Explore the main themes and symbols of the book;

– Take part in an open discussion;

– Join an autograph session. 

Media representatives are required to obtain accreditation to attend the event.

For reference: Andriy Zelinskyy is one of Ukraine’s first military chaplains. He serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, teaches in the Ethics-Politics-Economics program at the Ukrainian Catholic University, and is a co-founder of the Ukrainian Leadership Academy. He is also a political scientist, writer, publicist, and prominent public figure. His published works include Semen’s Stars, Sunflowers, My Journey to the Country of Marines, and Anatomy of a Warrior.

On May 4, Kyiv will host a charity obstacle run to celebrate the founding of the 12th Special Operations Brigade “Azov”. Participants will tackle a 3-kilometer course designed to test their endurance.

To participate, runners must register and donate 800 UAH, with all proceeds going directly to support front-line soldiers.
