The project of the Veterans Assistance Institute is being implemented in Ukraine
The veteran policy is being introduced very actively today. It is one of the key government priorities. Thus, one of the priority projects that the Ministry for Veterans Affairs is currently implementing is the project of the Veterans Assistance Institute.
This was emphasized by Svitlana Berezina, Director General of the Directorate of Strategic Planning and European Integration at the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, during the presentation of the study “Discrimination against Different Social Groups in the Armed Forces: Views of Military and Civilians.”
“Having carefully examined foreign experience, the demand in our country today, and whether such assistants are needed, we conclude that there is no single scenario. Today, our veteran heroes are coming back from war, and some need help regarding the railway platform’s accessibility. Others are returning to their families and communities on their own,” she explained.
According to Svitlana Berezina, the selection of candidates for the assistant role is scheduled to begin in mid-June. She noted that this pilot project will be preliminary conducted in four regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Lviv oblasts.
“These are four such different regions to study to be chosen intentionally to study both the economic capacity and the number of veterans in each region, in each community, to be involved in the pilot project. We are actively using digital tools, and they will be used when selecting candidates,” she added.
