The more camouflage nets our army has, the less the state suffers losses: chief sergeant of the Armed Forces unit Oleksiy Dzhelomanov

The other day, a briefing was held in the Kharkiv Media Hub on the specifics of the production of innovative camouflage nets for the needs of units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine. Questions related to the theme of the event were raised by Borys Redin, the head of the volunteer fund “All for Victory”, reserve colonel and head of the NGO “Yurii Kalgushkin, and chief sergeant of one of the military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksiy Dzhelomanov.”

According to B. Redin, currently, the front has a great need for camouflage nets, as they are expendable: they burn during shelling, tear when used, and burn out.

According to the speakers, during the 10 years of the ongoing war in Ukraine, Borys Redin’s volunteer organization’s nets production process has become semi-automatic, allowing for the production of more than 1,000 m² of product every week. In order to achieve the maximum camouflage effect, about five colors of fabric are used to make one net, based on the nature of the terrain. There are products with a 3D effect that help change the shape of objects. In addition, with the help of drones, representatives of the “Everything for Victory” foundation determine from the air how well the specified objects are camouflaged: positions, cars, false targets. Moreover, the use of different approaches to creating masking nets allows you to contain infrared radiation and reduce visibility in the thermal imager.

Oleksiy Dzhelomanov emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the provision of units with camouflage nets from the state is almost not carried out. In addition, this equipment belongs to military property, which, in case of loss, must be written off, bypassing many bureaucratic procedures.

– But at the same time, our defenders are often killed, and equipment is destroyed precisely because of the lack of proper camouflage. It is necessary to understand: the more our army has nets, the less the state suffers losses. The speaker said that we need to help volunteers, particularly the “Everything for Victory” fund.
