“The job of artists is to convey the main cultural messages to the soldiers”: Ukrainian singer Khrystyna Soloviy
The other day, a briefing was held in Kharkiv Media Hub on the topic: “Cultural and psychological support of the Ukrainian combatants.” Ukrainian singer Khrystyna Soloviy and artistic director of Kharkiv “Cultural Forces” Oleksandr Remez spoke about the idea of the project.
“Cultural Forces” is an association of famous artists who are the initiators of artistic, psychological, and educational projects. This association has more than 2,000 concerts on the front line, in military hospitals, in units of rescuers, and in the de-occupied Ukrainian territories.
According to Oleksandr Remez, the “Cultural Forces” has four directions along the front line. The fifth direction is aimed at supporting wounded servicemen undergoing treatment in hospitals.
– The least we do for our fighters is an entertainment program. We also remind them of the importance of Ukrainian culture and motivate them through our creativity. In addition, we support the Defense Forces ideologically – with books, performances, etc., – the speaker notes.
In her turn, Khrystyna Soloviy emphasized that the main vocation of artists during the war was to support the Ukrainian military.
– Our defenders are now superstars! And the only thing we, artists, can do is to organize our time so that we can be at the front more often because there is nothing more important than this war and our victory. There is no one more important than our defenders!
In addition, she noted that national culture is also a weapon against the russian invaders.
–This is what distinguishes us, Ukrainians, from this tribe, since its culture is completely stolen. And we have our own culture, which is fundamentally and mentally different… And it is the job of artists to convey the main messages during performances. And we are heard at this time.
