 “The concept of March 8 was twisted by the soviet system: we should not ban the holiday, but revive what is celebrated around the world,” Oksana Hryhoryeva

There is much debate in Ukraine about banning the celebration of March 8. Oksana Hryhoryeva, Gender Advisor to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, commented on this issue at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“I understand the haters who say: “March 8, the soviet union” and so on. The soviet system really twisted it in such a way that took away the struggle of women for their rights, and imposed the idea that a woman is a good accessory for a man. We should not ban it, we should revive what is celebrated around the world, restore it. It wasn’t that long ago that women gained the right to vote. I thank all feminists that we have this right and can talk about it. Therefore, I think such nonsense will not pass at the legislative level,” — Hryhoryeva said.
