The Attack on Iran’s Military Infrastructure Was Made in the Interests of the Country That Did It, and Not in Ukraine’s Interests — Association of Middle East Studies

On the night of January 29, the ammunition factory in the Iranian Esfahan was attacked by drones. Igor Semyvolos, Executive Director at the Association of Middle East Studies, commented on the incident during the briefing in Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The UAV strike on the Esfahan factory was made in the interests of the country that did it. Not in the interests of Ukraine or another country. Obviously, this does not directly affect [Ukraine]. Although we have heard angry reactions of Iranian officials, including those addressed to Ukraine, where they commented on Mykhailo Podolyak’s tweet that “Ukraine warned you.” They say that they consider it as indirect recognition, but it’s absolute nonsense. However, such threats against Ukraine exist. At this stage, this will not directly affect us, but it all depends on how the events will develop further. The Iranians must respond. How they do this will determine the development of the situation as a whole, and then this development of the situation will directly affect the course of the war in Ukraine,” the expert said.
