Why is it interesting?
Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine is still ongoing. The deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, leads to substantial humanitarian needs. Switzerland continues to provide long-term assistance to Ukraine. The Swiss cities of Zurich and Basel have contributed CHF 500,000 and CHF 225,000, respectively, towards purchasing ambulances to support the conflict-affected population in particular. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation is responsible for the purchase and transportation of the vehicles and coordinates all processes through the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine. The total amount of Switzerland’s assistance provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022 is more than CHF 270 million.
