Since beginning of hostilities, police open over 8,000 criminal proceedings into war crimes in Kherson region — National Police

In de-occupied Kherson region, work continues to record the facts of war crimes and initiate criminal proceedings against them. Andriy Kovanyy, interim Head of the Communication Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson region spoke about this at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“In total, more than 8,000 criminal proceedings have been opened into the facts of war crimes in the territory of Kherson region since the beginning of hostilities. This work was carried out both during the active phase of hostilities and during the occupation. This work does not stop after the liberation as well: war crimes are being recorded, criminal proceedings continue. Currently, specialized joint investigative teams are working in the de-occupied territories, which include police investigators, criminalists, prosecutors and the Security Service of Ukraine. Together, we record these crimes in order to solve them in an unbiased way, identify the persons who committed them, and bring these persons to justice,” — Kovanyy said.
