Law “On media” strengthens mechanisms for protection of Ukrainian language, culture and Ukrainian content makers — Poturaiev

Some MPs and activists say that the bill “On Media” contains dangerous points that will allow russian culture to penetrate into Ukraine. Mykyta Poturaiev, Chair of the Humanitarian and Information Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made a statement explaining whether this is really so at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“I don’t know who could think of saying such a thing now, because after the first reading, we did the opposite and strengthened the mechanisms for protecting the language and the producers of Ukrainian media products. All issues of protection of our national language and culture are spelled out in the law as best as possible. We are not ashamed, we are even proud of what we accomplished. This work made it possible to at least begin to create an atmosphere of trust and cooperation between public activists, NGOs that take care of this and the media themselves,” — Poturaiev said.
