Blackout shows that country’s banking system can cope with challenges — Chair of the Board of Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine
The blackout demonstrated that the banking system of Ukraine can cope with the challenges. Last Wednesday (November 23 – ed.), more than 1,500 bank branches and 3,800 ATMs worked. Olena Korobkova, Chair of the Board of the Independent Association of the Banks of Ukraine made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Even in the most critical moments, the information systems of the National Bank and banks continued to work, as did the electronic payment system. Banks let customers make their payments, serviced cards, and carried out cashless payments. Citizens’ access to funds was ensured in the darkest period. In particular, through working ATMs and cash desks at the branches,” — Olena Korobkova explained.
As reported, on Wednesday, November 23, the russian federation once again carried out a massive missile attack on Ukraine. As a result, millions of the country’s residents were left without electricity.
