“New units are being created in the National Guard – “Chervona Kalina”, “Rubizh”, “Spartan”, “Kara-Dag”, “Bureviy” and “Azov”. This is in not a mobilization. Those willing to join the ranks of the National Guard should come to two administrative service centers in Odesa, as well as to the National Guard Service Centers in Izmail, Podilsk, Chornomorsk, Berezovka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and Bolgrad. Denys Lavrenko also added that both citizens who are being mobilized and those willing to sign contract will be able to join the newly created brigades.

“The formation of the “Steel Border” brigade has already begun. It will be created on the basis of the 15th border detachment. The backbone of the unit is people with extensive combat experience. The brigade will be led by the hero of Ukraine, Colonel Valery Paditel. He took part in the defense of Mariupol, he was on “Azovstal”, – said Roman Mulyava, head of the department of social and humanitarian support of the southern regional administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The personnel will be trained for 2–3 months according to the best standards and armed with the most possible modern weapons.

As Oleg Yakubets, officer of the police battalion “Tsunami” said, the brigade “Lyut” consists of the battalions of the “Safari” regiment, the “Tsunami” regiment and the “Luhansk-1” battalion, said. “We want to recruit motivated people who want to defend the state. We have decent salaries and a motivated team that has shown itself well in combat operations,” the officer added.

The salary of the brigade as an ordinary member is 25-27 thousand hryvnias (666 USD) plus 30 thousand hryvnias (742 USD) awards established by the President of Ukraine. “That is, a person will receive 55-57 thousand hryvnias (1410 USD) on the spot and during training, and when he goes to the front line, the serviceman will receive an additional 70 thousand hryvnias (1730 USD) per month,” Oleg Yakubets said.
