A second mobile shelter will appear in Mykolaiv this week

Ilya Blokhin, head of the SafePlace4UA project and the “Yunist 2.0” charity organization, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Odesa.

“The first mobile shelter in Mykolaiv was installed on September 23 at a public transport stop in the Korabelny district of the city, where 8 people were killed as a result of a rocket attack on July 29. The funds for this were provided by the “Interchem” company. The second one will be installed this week, it was sponsored by the Nova Poshta company, Ilya Blokhin said.

The shelter was made according to the Israeli model from reinforced concrete.

“According to the experience of this country, 90% of the casualties during shelling in the open air are due to the scattering of shrapnel and remnants of rockets. Since 2009, the improvement of civil defense, through the installation of mobile shelters, has reduced the number of casualties by 71%,” the volunteer added.

Now, according to Ilya Blokhin, Mykolaiv needs 33 shelters. Mayor of the city, Oleksandr Senkevich, already sent to “Yunist 2.0” a request to provide 10 shelters.
